and if it is illegal will i have a better chance at getting a ticket or just a warning

You are required to display two license plates. One in the front the other in the rear. You can get a citation for the offense.

California law requires that a front and rear license plate be displayed at all times.

you are required to have both plates,especially with the new foto law lights so put it back on in LA

By CA law, you do have to have both on. You'll get pulled over if you don't....they'll just tell you to have both. That's about it though.

yes,but don't drive through rural Louisiana with it like that,some States think your on the lam.
