I think my uncle installed my windows xp from a burnt disc so my windows xp is not genuine. What is gonna happen if I dont buy a genuine one?

Unless u turn windows update on, nothing will hapen. Windows updating checks the authenticity of Windows, and u'll be shown same irritating message " Your windows is not genuine, and u have been a victim of software counterfeiting", but can use windows to the fullest extend. Quite irritating though. They won't arrest u or fine u. There are millions of ppl using counterfeit windows. SO its impossible for them 2 track all down.

You will have some serious issues if you dont get a new one. It only costs $100 for XP Home. Its better then getting fined or arrested
