I bought a oven pizza with spinach on it. Will I be ok? I also ordered a small spinach pizza last night. So am I safe? How long do the effects of E coli take to set in? I know im fine but just wondering if I should chuck this pizza or not?

Thanks

The bacteria does not survive cooking. If there was any e coli, it would be killed if heated to 160 degrees. Usually pizza is baked at 400 to 425 degrees. The current problem is with contaminated bagged fresh spinach, which is usually eaten raw. I wouldn't worry about your spinach pizzas.

Most spinach on pizzas start out as bagged. Since pizzas are cooked at about 750 degrees I bet you're safe to eat it.

This e-coli problem only concerns uncooked spinach. Cooking for any more than 2 minutes is going to keep you safe.

E-Coli effects:
causes diarrhea, often with blood in the stools. E. coli can cause hemolytic uremic syndrome, a form of kidney failure, in children and the elderly. The syndrome can cause kidney damage and death, especially in the elderly and young children.

they are saying bagged spinach but who knows if the pizza company used bagged spinach on the pizza and how long ago the pizza was made, that thing could have been in the freezer section for months? I wouldn't eat it but thats just me so ask yourself if it worth the risk of illness or possible death.

So, is it infact only packaged? I bought frozen pizza with spinach too. It was the "microwave in 5 minutes" kind though. Is that still safe?

Its not worth the risk through it away, and do not buy anything with spinach or any salad until it is all cleared up

also IT WAS NOT ONLY BAGGED SPINACH IT WAS ALL SPINACH, 20 DIFFERENT BRANDS LISTED AT LEAST!
and in twenty states

YES, its only the bagged spinach so if you have some that is in the can or frozen you are good with that though.

You should be fine, maybe you get a case of the 'green apple splatters' thats all. It's the eldery and those already ill from something else that face the serious risks. If your immune system is normal, you should be fine.

Its only the ORGANICALLY grown spinach that is dangerous. Don't buy any organically grown vegetables, its not worth the risk.

Yes, only Dole has been identified.

They are recommending you pitch ANY bagged slaads purchased prior to the outbreak.
