You have been given a multiple of correct answers, but it is an individual thing. The main thing is to increase fibre in your diet so go ahead and choose your favourite fruit. If you need a kick start you can add bran to many foods. Use it instead of bread crumbs or even toast it and sprinkle on top of a salad, or buy bran cereals.
Good luck in choosing a answer

The age old remedy.. eat prunes.. prevent the constipation, not treat it. Can also use pectin in a glass of warm or cold water.. that is the effective factor in the fruit.

prunes, Senokot laxative is natural. Lots of water. Milk of Magnesia will start you off without cramping there are even tablets to swallow if you can't handle the chalkie taste. Increasing fiber in your diet will help also. I would start with Milk of Magnesia to promote a bowel movement then start right away with the extra water and lots of fruits and high fiber foods. My sis and I have always had this problem and these things work for us.

Prunes, of course, but prune juice works, and that can be cut a little with ginger ale if you don't like the taste. Peas, beans, apples, bananas, berries, broccoli, carrots, etc all help.

eat fresh cherries! grapes are also great for producing bowel movements. A good cleanse from a health food store will remove some of the problem if it is ongoing, I can also recommend some great mineral supplements that I take. email me for more info, i like them because they work and are CHEEPer than most anything else that works. Also, drink lots of water, you may just be dehydrated.
