I agree with what everyone else has said. In Maine, it's two plates but in Georgia it's only one plate. Also if it is a two plate state, you cannot take off one to put a vanity plate on i.e. one you but at the store because you like the picture or saying. One reason why some states require two plates is so that your tag number can be read from in front of the car and behind the car.

Depends entirely on the laws of the state you reside in. Florida, for example, only issues rear license plates. But other states do require them. God knows why.

depends on your state, for example in TN you only get a rear plate there is no front one,

so you need to ask the DMV of your state. I know in VA they want you to have a front plate, when visting there last year I was stoped often because I did not have a front plate.

depends on which state you live in. If the state requires front and back plates then that's what you need...there is no choice in the matter.

Depends on the state. If your state has a front plate, then you have to have it on the car.

It depends from state to state regarding motor vehicle laws. If you are traveling to another state you should probably make sure both plates are clearly visible and adequately lit after dark.

It depends on the state. Some states require both, others do not.

It depends on the state you live in.
Although I suspect if they gave you 2 they expect you to have them on the auto.

Check your DMV site.
