Okay, WIC isn't considered welfare to me. My cousin and his wife were able to get it when their son was born; she's a medical receptionists and he's a drill sergeant in the army. I don't consider medicaid welfare either. I'm talking someone having all their utilities paid by the government, having their rent paid, and getting foodstamps.

I have a daughter who for several years went through surgeries and therapy for her kidneys and other problems she had. Her development was delayed and she needed 5/6 day a week provider care.
So in my case yes I needed state assistance.
There are many reasons why a parent can not make it on their own. Sometimes it takes something happening to you before you realize what this help means to the people recieving it.
How about when you 60 and you are at retirement age. Your expecting your retirement fund to last but your meds cost more then it holds. You wait you will learn someday.

There are many different reasons why someone needs "welfare." What if a woman was abused by her husband after 10 years of marriage, was a stay at home mom and had no work experience? I find a lot people judging people on welfare, but you do not know the situation they are in, and what they have gone through. There are a lot of people out there that would not be able to survive without the help of the Gov.
Abuse doesn't start the moment someone gets married. Years have passed before a husband has become abusive!! You think everything is fine and dandy, then the abuse starts, a woman may not know or believe her significant other could do that, but it happens!
Add up how much you pay per year for rent, utilities, grocery, phone. I pay almost 16,000 per year for all this. And I by no means live in a wonderful place either. Minimum wage is what 5.15ish per hour. That rate doesn't even cover the necessities to live and just pay the bills.

Yes. Sometimes things happen in life we aren't prepared for. While I thank my lucky stars that I have never had to use welfare, I don't judge those who do. My husband walked out after years of begging for a child because he suddenly realized fatherhood was WORK, not just fun! If I didn't have my mother to watch my baby girl while I work, I would go on welfare. No way in hell I'd leave a newborn in a daycare - no matter how many others do it, I would not. I don't want my daughter left with strangers when she's too young to tell me if she's being ignored, mistreated, etc. (I worked in a daycare for a year, I KNOW some babies are neglected)

Well, im 16 and i get WIC for my baby. But i see so many people who get foodstamps and they really dont need it. So, if its needed for more than 2 months, i dont see a reason why not for them to get it.

There are some people that work hard and still can't make enough money for food, medical bills, what not. Welfare is there to help them.

Unless they are physically disabled, NO.
The Lazy ones should have their kids taken away and be shipped to labor farms...chain gangs...anywhere that we can get some value for the $ we pay in taxes to support their sorry butts.
