My pet is 13 years old and I am concerned if anything should happen where I cannot take care of him. I researched the matter and Bide-A-Wee has a Golden Years Retirement Home where they care for dogs. I do not know if there is any fee involved. The number is 212 532-6395. I hope they can help.

Do you have a petsmart near you? If so, on the weekends they have animal adoption groups from the local shelters. Go speak with the people there. Many of those volunteers take the animals home with them until a home can be found, they may also know of a foster home for the dogs. Or simply ask them if you can stay and find someone willing to adopt your dog. I would strongly urge you to stay away from posting them on the internet as lots of people are from various labs that will claim to want a pet but just want more animals to be able to perform tests on them, such as cosmetics, meds chemicals. Try going to different stores, walmart target pet stores and asking if you can hang up a sign for your dogs to find a new home. If you live near any farming communities you can always knock on a farmers door and ask if they would like a few good dogs to help guard the sheep and cows.

You can try contacting your local animal protection agency, most will take an animal for you.
You'll have to ask if they're a 'no kill' shelter or not. Some are, some aren't.
If the animals pass the temperament test, they should be good to adopt out without trouble.

Don't give up. Go to pet shops, as the rescues are usually booked. someone will contact you. The pet shops usually know of someone personally. Don't give them to just anyone. Not the humane society, not the pound or the animal shelter. They would rather euthanize than give them to a good home. Be kind to the animals & they will be kind to you. Good luck to you & your furry friends.

www.theanimalrescuesite.com/

It would help to know where you live. I am sure someone at this site can help direct you.

all I did was go to google, type in "animal rescue" and there were numerous sites. If you put in "animal rescue in (your state) or for the type of dog you can get more specific results.
