It actually stopped bleeding and the blood is dry. It's not like "oh my god he's gonna die from losing blood!!!" but I'm still pretty worried. It's about a centimeter long and the blood went half a centimeter wide, roughly. I know I can't put a bandage on it without skinning him, so how do I keep it from getting infected?

you need to wash off the blood so you can see how big the cut is, warm water on a clean washcloth will probably work since it's right by the cat's face. a cat's ears, like ours, are very vascular so they will bleed alot even if it's not a big cut. just make sure you keep it clean. you may need someone else to help you when your washing it. once you get the blood off you can decide if you need to bring it to the vet.

"Calendula (marigold) is a remarkable healing agent. I am amazed at how fast it works for scratches, cuts and raw skin. Calendula ointments are readily available in health food stores. Do not use it for puncture wounds because it may heal the top of the wound too fast and leave the infection below. There is no problem if an animal licks it off after you apply it." A. dont worry about it. cats heal really quickly- in like three days or so. if he is an outdoor cat he could have gotten in a catfight or tried to crawl under a tight fence, etc. if its just a cut it will heal and he will be fine. if it doesnt heal and it starts to look swollen or then you should put some antibiotics. regular human antibiotics works for our cats, we do it all the time. or put vasseline on it. vassleine will make it heal quicker, and it will keep it clean from infections. if it gets infected take him to the vet right away =]

Wash it best you can and keep an eye on it. Don't put any kind of ointment on it because he will just rub it off and get it in his mouth.
