There's absolutely no reason for a Bering Strait's bridge unless the Siberia oil fields were right in the region nearest to Alaska.
There are no roads, on either sides of the straits, for over a 1000 miles. That makes it completely impractical for transporting vehicles or materials.

Yep...
I have thought that this would be a great idea for many years.
It would allow a rail & road link between South & North America,
Russia, China, S.E. Asia, Africa and Europe...
There are a few rail & road links that would need to be completed in addition to the Bering Strait bridge but the Bridging the Bering Strait would be the big step and the start of it all...
I believe the tourist trade in itself would be huge..It would open up eastern Russia and many heretofore isolated areas...

Well, if you built a rail link on the Russian side to the Trans Siberian railway and on the Alaskan side to the Canadian rail network, you could take a train ride from London to New York. Think what a buzz that would be in a luxury train.
