For you that Hate Pitbulls, can you answer below please?

How many of you have actually known and met more then 3 Pitbulls from responsible good owners that are well bred and raised?

now,

How many of you are just going off of what the News reports and really have no idea other then what you see the thugs walk around with?

do you think it is a little like stereo typing based on ignorance if you hate what you have no experience with?

To Mr. Pitfighter. You again are an idiot.
Yes you are right. I own a dual registered Pitbull. His lineage however goes ALL THE WAY BACK TO ????? COLBY. which I do believe was a fighting Pitbull. SO get off your kick., when you can say that you are trying to defend this breed and not damage it then we can talk, till then SHUT THE HELL UP.... email me anytime big bad man.

I think it is stero typing, and for good reason.

For those of us who have no experience with this breed, the only stories we hear about them are on the news, after they have attacked someone.
But coincedently, the dog attacks they show happen to be 90% related to pit bulls or pitty crosses.

It may be ignorance, but if the only vicious dog you ever heard about was pit bulls, you would believe they were a dangerous breed too.

But personaly i believe it has nothing to do with the breed of dog, but how the dog is handled and raised.

Good luck with your question.

I have personally known several pit bulls.

While your question is a good one you give part of the answer....responsible, good owners.

The majority of dogs, of any breed, do not have responsible, good owners. Of the pit-bulls I have known 3 were put to sleep. The owners could not control or train them.

The key is a knowledgeable responsible owner. Most owners do not know the history of their dog and what behavioral tendencies their dog will have. It's the owner's fault not the dog's.

I totally agree with you . I have three beautiful pits that I pulled from my shelter, one of which was shot because someone was so scared of just the breed not the dog. I have found that pits are the most loyal dogs that I have ever encountered and I come from a family that HATES pits. In fact when I bring my pits with me to see my family they have to sit in the car. I would be more terrified of the labradors than the pits. It's all in how they were raised and they only do what they have been taught. Punish the deed not the breed.

I have had a few pits over the years and none of them have been vicious. My neighbor's children always played with them with no problems so it is all on how they are raised. The chihuahua I have now is about a thousand times more aggressive then the pits and the rotties ever were. It isn't bad dogs, it is bad owners.

I have to laugh here.....ignorance......I have them .....I love them......wouldn't have anything else.......I have a 6 year old daughter and she loves him.....people need to actually do a little research instead of just sheeping along with the I'm afraid of the scary dog bandwagon......APBT's have always been trained to NEVER bite a human....part of the pre fight activities for the pit dogs was that the owner of the other dog would wash your dog and vice verse....those animals that would take to biting a human were quickly dispatched.....If people had any sense they would know that this is a species wide ordeal......If you have not done your homework into the lineage of any dog then your just taking a chance.....you should have checked the temperament of both bloodlines....if you don't...like i said your taking a gamble with any dog. do some research into the breed ill bet you will be intrigued......they have a vast history....and as amazing as this may sound are one of the easiest bloodlines to research. Have a nice day haters.

well... to tell the truth I have hardly been around them. However, I believe they were cruelly bred. It's wrong to breed animals just to make them really mean. I also think the breeding of Pugs was wrong - they have nasal problems because of their smashed noses. If you want to read what an organization has to say about them try http://www.aspca.org and, sorry I don't know where, is an article on this.

My thought is...
If the dog is raised to be loving and compassionate and has love growing up, it will be so friendly. My friend had a pitbull and it bred. They had puppies galore! they kept two, and they were the absoulute FRIENDLIEST dogs ever. If you train a pitbull to be mean and scary, it will be mean as most people see them. So, i agree with you 100%. It's not the dog, its the owner.

I agree with you completely. I work at a kennel for the SPCA and we have a lot of pitt bulls. They can be the sweetest pets. It's all in how they are raised/trained. We are very careful to who we adopt pitt bulls out to. They have a lot of energy that needs to be burned out and if it is not then they may get destructive. They also need an owner who knows the breed and how to properly train them. They need to know how to be the boss. If you are a responsible pet owner then your pitt is just like any other dog. Pitts just have a bad rep and in the hands of a bad owner that rep gets even worse.

For a long time, I hated the breed, and was afraid of them. I have met so many recently, that I really kind of like them. I am not sure if I want to adopted one tomorrow, but I am open to the possibility.

I have seen so many that just want you to hug them and rub their bellies, I have not seen one that wanted to "kill" me.

I think pit bull reputations speak to the quality (or lack thereof) of their owners.

I hate the BSL that so many states are trying to implement.

Look first at the quality of the owners, rather than the reputation of the breed.

Please try and listen to reason from an intelligent person:

In your entire life have you ever heard of anyone being attacked and mauled/killed by a Chihuahua, Dashund, Cocker Spaniel, Labrador, Collie, Poodle, English Setter, Greyhound, St. Bernard, Great Dane, etc. The breed you keep hearing about in the news that attacks and sometimes kills is the "Pit Bull". Some localities have determined the problem is so serious that they are considering banning the breed (passing laws against ownership).
