Quite a few people love spinach, more than what you expected perhaps. The cause is probably rooted in the fertilizer used on the soil. Well since popeye eats the canned version most of the time, it's probably been boiled before hand lol.

I love spinach. In fact... I love brussel sprouts! Just about any vegetable but okra...that stuff is nasty!

It's from people not washing it when it's fresh after they've gotten it from the store. Vegetables are packaged with other foods and they're handled by a lot of people. Germs are spread that way, and if one eats it raw, then they can get E.Coli. Vegetabes should ALWAYS be washed, and rubbing an apple on a paper towel is not sanitary either.

How the heck are people getting e-coli bacterium from spinach???
You can eat this leafy veggie raw or cooked. Unless there is some other contaminant that's been introduced to it, spinach is NOT the culprit!
By the way, raw spinach is alot like lettuce & is used alot in salads.

You wouldn't say this if you had tried spinach made with this recipe:
Boil the spinach.
Drain them really well.
Toss them in oil with a little garlic (optional), a spoonful of sultanas and another spoonful of pine nuts.
Leave them for a couple of minutes in the pan, moving around.
Salt and pepper.
Ready to eat and... delicious!

Nobody likes spinach, but some people eat it because they think its healthy. Not me. I think it has ecoli in it. I'm swearing off vegetables right now.

Well...spinach has been forced on me by my mother most of my life, so I would be able to pin the ecoli on her. On every holiday, she says to me "Make that special spinach salad of yours," OF MINE? I don't think there is anything special about it, she just wants to see me suffer.
