When ever I put my hair up in a pony tail I always have this bunch of hair right at the base of my head that looks horrible. Is there any way to prevent this (i've tried gel and hairspray to hold it, but that just hurts my head) Is there a right kind of pony tail for this problem??

use a ponytail holder with a lot of stretch in it. that way u can put it as tight as u like which should help with the hair bunched up at the base of ur head.

Yeah.. I get those. You absolutely HAVE to brush it down with like.. a bore bristle brush. Make sure you're holding the part of the ponytail underneath while you're putting it up, so you can feel if it's bunching. After that, gel it (or mousse, or hairspray) it, and brush it UP (with the same brush) very gently, so you can get the product through.. Hope I helped you!

If you have thick or coarse hair, I recommend Goody Ouchless Thick Elastics.

If you have thin, medium, straight, or wavy hair, I recommend Goody Ouchless Elastics.

They work for me!

Glad to help!

Go more towards a scrunchie direction, instead of a thin band. The bigger the scrunchie, the more it will hold the hair and not slide. Make the ponytail with this new scunchie very close to the head, because it's the looseness that is making that hill under your ponytail.

There are Scunci hairties at walmart that are very stretchy and have a rubbery type stuff on them that holds it inplace. Since they are stretchy, they go tighter and it won't bunch up, and the rubber makes them stay in place. They are a little more expensive, but they're worth it.
