Im 15, and for the past month, I've had an internal hemorrhoid. When I first read about the symptoms I've been having and found out that it was a hemorrhoids, I immediatly started trying to make it better. I've been eating lots of fiber/drinking tons of water, exercising more, improving my posture, everything. But, no matter what I do, it still hurts when I defecate, and there is sometimes even blood.

The first time it happend, I told my mom. She doesn't care. She just told me to use alcohol after I go.

I've read more about them and how they can lead to colorectal cancer, if gone too long without being treated. Once again, I told my mom. I told her that I needed to see a doctor, all she does is tell me that its ok, it'll go away, It's too expensive to go to the doctor. She told me she tried to get health insurance, but I was denied...

For the past month, I've been thinking... "Is money worth more than my health...?"

Is there anything I can do?

We "spoke" on you last questions about your heart beats....If you are 15 yrs old you are considered a minor. Most states have programs minors can receive health care for free or very low cost. You need to ask the school nurse (or a teacher your trust) to help you with your health situation.

If your parent is not willing to get you appropriate health treatment or a minimum of a physical to assess what is "truly the problem" vs "self diagnosis" then you need to seek help from another trusted adult.

Unless you already live here, COME TO CALIFORNIA! We will give you more than our own legal citizens and natives! You can get FREE medical and hospitalization. No slap on the wrist or nuttin! However, if you DO live here, you are in trouble.

Actually, having no insurance will not keep you from getting help. The problem is your mother. She needs a lobotomy and a kick in the A.S.S.!! The other problem is, without your parent's consent, you cannot get help anywhere. You are underage. That is, if you live in California. Do you have any relatives that might help? And there is one other thing, you can go to the social services office and ask them to take you as an orphan or something. It will take all your mom's rights away, but you might get medical attn.

Unfortunately, this is a situation that is becoming more and more relevant in today's world. Health insurance costs are high now, but still climbing. Depending on where you live, it can START at around 100 dollars and up. The best thing I can suggest is to see a medical college clinic or training center.

Have you talked to a health professional at your school?
You also might try calling any type of teen health advocate that you can find in the phone book.(Start with State health agency's)
You might even try calling the major hospitals in your area to find out if they have indigent health care for teens.
Don't give up!
Also try any clergy that you know of (Pastors, Ministers, and the like) Churches will help you even if you are not a member of their church.... we are ALL God's children!
