For years I have struggled to seperate my work life from my home life. I have moved several times (small town) and have a silent phone number (which is unplugged most of the time). I work 11-12 hour days, 5 days per week. I have told my fellow workers not to come to my home for work matters loudly, many times. They just keep doing it. Today, Sunday at 6.30 am there was a yell at the door again! I'm at my wits end as to what to do. Help?

Why do they know where you live? Don't be afraid to put a huge DO NOT KNOCK DO NOT DISTURB sign on your door. They will know the deal when you NEVER answer. I had to do this once with a little neighbor across the street who knocked like the police every 4 hours.

What in the world do you do for a living that would merit the need for your co-workers to ever show up at your house about a work matter?

It's too late now, but if you happen to move again do not tell anyone your new address.

Why would your fellow workers come to your house?

Whatever the reason, you must have invited it at one time or it wouldn't be a habit now. If it's within your power, post in writing that anyone coming to your house will be fired and then do so. I'll bet it will never happen again.

Put a sign on your door on the weekends that says do not disturb under any circumstances until after 10:00 a.m. (or whatever time you choose to put on the sign.) You may also put another sign that says: If this is work related, please take it up with me on Monday morning.

Give them specific warnings that you will throw water balloons at them if they do that again and make sure to do it. It might be something that is so important that they need you, but they must know there is a consequence to their actions. If they know they will get soaked to get your help, but are willing to have it happen, this will show how desperately they need your help. Or if they aren't willing to get wet, they will figure it out for themselves.

Ha ha ha..... sorry can't help it. Such a small town eh.

Stop responding to them. Let them do it and don't answer. Keep doing it and hopefully they will get the message.

I would call the police and say that there is a suspicious person hanging around your home.
