Actually, I think Jesus summed it up a little bit better:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Yes, religion is about leading a good life, but the main point of religion is that those who place their faith in the Lord God will be saved when the Earth is destroyed and we will all have to come before God as a judge and be judged. Those who are worthy gain eternal life. Those who are not go to Hell.
There is no debate on whether there is a God- look at the beauty of the world then ask "Did all this happen by chance or because the Lord God wanted it to be?" God is forgiving and loving as any Father would be, but at the same time He is a judge, and will punish any wrongdoing just as our earthly judges do.
So think about it. Actually bother to read a Bible/Qu'ran/holy scripture. Then you will see.

not all of them but most do. I personally can't understand is why do people need to be told this. When i'm being an a**hole I know it and I don't think very highly of myself afterwards, so I try to become a better person by modeling myself after people I admire. I'm human, so I'm prone to screwing up and , you know, that's OK because I'll get over it. And If I hurt someone, I will attempt some sort of restitution or apology because its the right thing to do. I don't know why I think this way but I always did. Apparently Sesame Street doesn't teach these things.

That was very funny. Yes, I suppose you are right. There is a GOD, a heavenly Father whose Son is Jesus. Maybe you can publish a new version of the bible. It could have 2 covers and one page: Act like you got some da^@ sense and don't show your @)!. I'd read it daily.
