They don't just hate America or Britain, they hate the non islamic world. They pick on the US and UK because they are seen as easy targets... if they truly believed in their causes they would be attacking China and Russia too, but don't dare because they would get nuked.
Britain has been hated by Islam since the 600's before we were even Christian or British in the modern sense.
It was the British who prevented the Moors taking over Spain and eventually Europe by defeating the Spanish Armada.... it goes like this... if Spain had successfully invaded Britain, they would have overextended themselves and left the door open for the Moors to invade Spain, creating a beach head into Europe.
Britain has always stood up for its-self.. even the Pope declared war against us and approved the assasination of Elizabeth 1.
It was British troops in Africa and the middle east that prevented Nazi domination, and the eventually extermination of the arabs and muslims. Hitler tried to kill of the Jews, but it would have been blacks and muslims next.
Britain has always stood for the right of ANY creed, or race to exist, but look at the gratitude we've had with 7/7 etc. We may have dominated the world ourselves with an Empire, but we NEVER ruled as conquerors and ALWAYS gave independance back when the colonies were capable of self governance.
We gave the Middle East back after WW2, and the short memoried white hating islamic fascists have forgotten that we - whilst helping our own causes - also helped theirs.

i wouldnt use the word "muslims" because here, u r accusing all of them, when they have nothing to do with it. I am a Muslim and I am against terrorism, i believe its wrong to kill so many innocent ppl for no particular reason.
There is a theory, that the Americans knew the 9/11 would happen and they let it happen so they had an excuse to go on war against Iraq, but I dont know if its true, its a theory.

WWI was a war against the Ottoman Empire. After the defeat of the Ottoman Empire (Turkey, Muslim) the US, Great Britain & France began dividing up the former Ottoman Empire into states that we know today, including Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, etc.
And, imposed dictators over Muslims in those areas.
During which time, they began allowing foreigners, masquerading as Jews, to overrurn the area known as Palestine. These fake Jews began murdering people and stealing their property. Offenses for which the US, France & GB did nothing.
This terrorism was rewarded by giving the terrorists their own state (Israel) from which to continue their terrorism against their neighbors.
You might say the "war on terror" is a continuation of WWI and is the direct result of policies adopted by the US, GB & France towards the ME since WWI ended.

The problems going on in the middle east have been going on for centuries. Anyone who gets involved runs the risk of becoming entangled in very complex problems. I agree not all Muslims are extremists unfortunately theirs is the loudest voice or at least attracts the watchful eye of the media lens. Many Muslim countries have been in and out of "holy" wars with each other so it's not just western civilisation who is at odds.

I am so sick of the narrow minded, parochial response to 9/11 that terrorism stated from there. Terrorists have been around much longer. Ask someone to tell you about Noraid, the American group that raised money for the provisional IRA who spent years exploding bombs and murdering people in Ireland and the UK.

The U.S. government and England have manipulated the politics of the Middle East for well over 100 years. Often times certain basic attitudes have been based on religions opinions ( mostly mistaken in my opinion ). It is the case that we in the West most often react to the notion of Muslim hatred without actually paying attention to the fact that our very unbalanced support for Israel is itself often a result of our own religions beliefs ( for example, our Middle East policy has great support amongst evangelical Christians). Additionally, our substantial ignorance of basic regional history makes it hard for most people to distinguish between Al Qaeda and the Iraqi government of Saddam Hussein. After nearly 4 years of a war started on false pretenses we've further helped to inspire resentment.

They hate anything that challengers there religious beliefs.
They were once amongst the greatest scientists and mathamaticians in the world. Unfortunately it is their religious beliefs and the interperitation of them that has kept them it the "stone age" so to speak.
So, when the US said they would bomb the Taliban back to the stone age they were actually wasting there time. They were already there !

the interference of the US and UK governments in the middle east politics and trade.
and since the early 90s the middle east has been flooded by US troops every where.
military bases all over the middle east which makes it feel like an occupation.
the people dont want them there.
it's that SIMPLE.
but the US government didn't wanna listen until Bin laden got angry.
and also because of the support of Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian and Syrian territories, and the many wars with the Arab nations.
the US always supports Israel with weapons that kill Bin Laden's fellow Muslims.

Probably the fact that the US and UK have been trying to weaken the Middle East for decades if not hundreds of years so they can take their oil, because it's getting too expensive to fuel those Black Hawks!
