The Christian god, according to the Christians' own mythology, saw fit to destroy almost all life on Earth after getting peeved that it didn't turn out right - which is absurd for an omnipotent omniscient entity but we'll gloss over that for now - and promises everlasting torture for anyone who displeases him. Do you really feel comfortable about spending eternity in the company of such a character? It seems to me that you should be rather worried about his state of mind...

J T: Sad but true. It's hard to see how they can hold two such dramatically contradictory beliefs at the same time.

This is one of those things that I absolutely can't get my head around.

HOW is it possible for any Jew, Christian or Muslim to read their scripture - hear what their God has done (or so they believe) to the world, and how he will torment others for his viewing pleasure in the future. And still blurt out the inane chant that their God is all good...

It's completely ridiculous.

Nice question and a well described point of view. Your religion or belief is well stated so there can not be a question as to your position. Seldom is this done by all the question askers.

I can only state my view. I do hope you can see my position as clear as I do see yours. Likewise I do respect yours and do not want to change it. You are absolutely entitled to it and I hope you will give me the same respect.

I kinda think it will be nice, for if I am going to spend eternity with him, I will be just like him meaning I will have the same state of mind and I will be enjoying whatever he does enjoy. You see In my view our future comes about by a choice in an option that is presented with only two possibilities. It is to either spend eternity with the benefits from an omnipotent omniscent entity or to spend eternity knowing one could have been with this omnipotent omniscient entity. From my view it is better to have ones desires fulfilled than to be with the desire and there is no fulfillment.

I noticed you stated "the Christian's own mythology". Where did you get that view. is it the proper view, is it just your opinion of their view, or are you a Christian and you hold this view? Your words tell me you are not a Christian or a so called Christian [one of my definitions for those who call themselves a Christian]. Thus I have to reason out it is the way you understand a so called Christian view.

Now just suppose I told you it did turn out right and all those destroyed were designed to be destroyed. That was the plan and it was executed perfectly. Can you accept that as the view of a "NO"? Can you let me have my view if I am willing to let you have your view? Can we be fair to each other?

I find "mass murderer" defined as [From the Yahoo on line dictionary]: A person, especially a political or military leader, who is responsible for the deaths of many individuals; A person who kills several or numerous victims in a single incident; A serial killer.

Is that Christian God to you a person like as a humankind? Can such a person promise eternity to anyone? Maybe that in your words is not a person likened unto humankind and is something greater than humankind? If that be true maybe he has different word definitions than humankind, Or maybe if he is an omnipotent omniscient entity his relationship to humankind may be such as an owner or whatever. If it is possible he is the owner, does he not have a right to do with what he ownes as he chooses? If so, what right does humankind have to judge him? Or what right does one have to tell another what to do with property that is owned by another?

These are just a few ot the questions I see you did not explain in yiour detailed statement. I need answers to these before I can form an absolute opinion.

Please do consider these and if you like mail me your answers at cjkeysjr@yahoo.com.ph.

Again thanks for the question and thanks for allowing me to answer and to state my opinion as I did not complain about your comments. My Friend that to me is what is nice about Yahoo. Its the freedom.

Do have a nice day OK.

He isn't a murderer.
First of all, He made us and has every right to make us dust again.
Second, He gives us the choice to worship Him, otherwise it isn't worship. When the people didn't want to worship Him, and became very evil, He destroyed them. Otherwise they would have destroyed themselves with their own murder. Sounds more merciful to me.
Third, He knew they would turn out wrong, if he only made those that He knew would be good, it once again isn't true worship. Some sadly must fall for others to go right.
Fourth, I would be happy to spend eternity with Him, even if He struck me down right this moment. Who knows? Maybe I wouldv'e caused a car accident tommorow that killed a missionary that was supposed to fly to Africa.

And finally, if He was so sadistic, why would He die on the cross and punish Himself, just to save us?

People who can accept the idea that a mass murdering psychopath is a loving, beneficent God are clearly suffering from mental disorder(s).
