I asked a question about giving a girl a sonnet a few days ago and one of the female user answered as follows-
Now what I wantto know is how many of you especially girls feel the same way that this person says. You can see my questions for the question I asked.

myth - guy does something romantic, girl falls in love with guy.
fact - only in movies.. well to be fair, romantic acts don't usually work this way and could even be a turn off. most modern gals with a reasonable "social" rating..will just laugh it off or worse, get irritated by it... in fact, romantic gestures should be carried out for a loved one not for a stranger, which sadly, most guys fail to do once they are in the relationship. so, before you are even into a relationship, it is not romantic things that catches the gal's attention, but rather, the real Man that you are projecting to her. Be it, your gentlemanly behaviour, your scholarly conversation, your masculinity, your geeky cute mannerisms, your projected sense of confidence / security / pride / finiancial stability.. and so on and so forth.. so, its either she likes the impression she has of you or she doesn't, and it is up to you to change/improve yourself on those "properties" that she likes. of course, the

of course, the opportunity for you to impress upon her must exist.. which will be another topic altogether.

Lol, I read your other question about sonnets. It sounds like you're quite intelligent (ie you can spell!) I think it depends on the girl as to how romantic the guy should be. Writing poems is rather sweet, but it is seen as a very old wooing technique! It may seem unfair that the guy that usually gets the girl looks like an ox and only has to say "yeh, uhh, would you like to sleep wiv me?" to pull. But there are girls out there that like the romantic stuff. Tends to be the older the woman, the more romantic they like it.

Dunno if that answered your question, it was a tad confusing :-/

i agree with falling for the protection part. I went for a man that i felt would always be my protecter. I think that guys that are always writing poems and love letters and pouring out their feelings are wimpy. I have had this conversation with several friends and we all agree it is the bad boy manly men that we all want. But to be fair all women are different and there is someone out there for everyone. The trick is to find that person

i agree. i think its true that romantic gestures dont work on a girl who doesnt know you unless you have already caught her eye because you are exceptionally good looking, and even then, girls dont look for that i guess, ive found every girl i was completely honest with has liked me, even when i tell her things that i expected to turn her off, girls really like honesty, oops im off topis, whatever, peace out my friend
