Not all soldiers were Nazis. They did have conscription too. It's fine to respect those who gave their lives for their country. 'My country, right or wrong'....

The ordinary soldiers weren't nazies any more than US soldiers are republicans.
The US had no reason for invading Vietnam, so are you saying that Americans shouldn't love & respect your Viet Vets. I will admit they were given a pretty hard time when they came back for which Americans lost a lot of respect. When Reagan visited Germany he visited a graveyard for the SS, who were nazies.

I would suppose it would be okay... as long as the love and respect is for the soldiers, sailors, and airmen as individuals, but NOT in a worship of the former National Socialist Party.
A great number were drafted and were mere soldiers in regular units. Those of the SS and Gestapo were mostly hunted down following the war and tried and imprisoned.
My family was in the town of Remagen in 1980 and we caught a quiet ceremony for those soldiers who died defending the bridge across the Rhein... a touching moment.
I still hoist a beer to each of the shipmates I lost over the 15 yrs of my Naval service... ALL lost in peacetime accidents... but just the same, friends and family.

Sure it is. Some of the nazi soldiers realized what Hitler was doing was wrong at the end. Many of them didn't even know that death camps existed. Some others were forced into fighting so no one will suspect that they were Jews themselves or was against the war to protect themselves and their families.
Let me throw this analogy to you. Decades from now after this whole Middle East mess has been done and cleaned up, many will ask the same thing about the US troops. History has a way of repeating itself.

Relatively few soldiers outside of the SS units were Nazis.
In the SS units, a lot of the soldiers were not even German.
There were many brave men in the German army, and many of them were gentlemen. They deserve honor and respect.
Well, maybe with one exception:The 12th SS Panzer Division was made up of Hitler youth when they became old enough to become soldiers. They were a scurvy bunch, with "not a decent human being among them", according to one Canadian soldier who interrogated them.
Unfortunately for the Canadians, they found themselves facing this division again and again. But, as may be expected, the Canadians turned in a darned good account of themselves.

Ofcourse they knew. Hitler blamed the jews for each thing and the human beings agreed, thats why wide-spread squaddies dealt with them like **** in camps and occupied cities. even as a sparkling city might want to be invaded they could take soldier prisoners first, then even as administration is taken, they take out the jews too the ghettos yet who do you imagine went out and fetched the jews with aggression? it develop into ofcourse squaddies and they were merciless because they knew they'd skill over them. by employing the time the U. S. got here into the warfare they were already dropping because the Soviet Union develop into penetrating them, and others which comprise yugoslav partisans all started putting out operations, Africa develop into loose, and so on. and now a sparkling defense force skill has arrived that hasnt been by warfare yet (the pacific warfare isn't something compared too the ecu warfare) and penetrated Italy and protection barriers in France...identity be f*ckin scared too and make up w/e so that they wont shoot me =P. oh and btw videos might want to be made up thats why i favor staring at previous videos from 50's-80's because they are extra useful fairly of in basic terms hollywood cr*p.

Sure, why not?
Separate the people from the idea of Naziism.
The soldiers did what they were told to do. I'm willing to bet they felt they had no choice. It's the top people that gave the orders that you shouldn't have love and respect for.

Yes it's ok, the nazis were a political party, few members of the military were nazis, at least in the lower ranks, they were just soldiers doing their job.

Of course and well they should. My dad was a WWII POW and did not hate the Germans. They were serving their country, just as he was. As many others have stated most were not Nazis. Most probably did not know the way Hitler was.

Just because a country's leader is a psychopath doesn't mean that the majority of the soldiers are as well. They get orders, they follow them, or they get shot. I believe that most of the soldier's on any side of any conflict are just guys doing their duty. No shame in respecting them for that.
