I think adults get angry because you obviously have something going on inside, and don't feel comfortable enough to talk to them and they can't help if they don't know what's going on and 9 times out of 10 you all hide it from them, and that's what makes them angry not only the cutting but the hiding and the lies that come along with it. Or maybe they are disappointed that because they thought you had so much potential to do so much more with your life until they let you down. And eventually it's not about you anymore its about us making a wrong turn in YOUR life somewhere. You would be so surprised@how many adults would understand if you only gave us a chance. Before it's to LATE!!!!!

In the case of parents, it's because they love them, and don't want to see harm come to them, even if it is self-inflicted. The same goes for adults in general - it's concern for the well being of those teens. Cutting is a symptom of a much deeper problem, so adults/parents want to understand their teen, know what's causing them to cut so that they can help them work through it. It might seem like they're angry, but it's probably just coming across that way when really they're concerned and care about the teen. And if they're actually angry, then they need to check themselves, because they could very well be contributing to the problem.
A prayer for all teens who feel the need to cut themselves, that they might find healthier ways to cope with things...

Because they cannot understand the psychological problems going on with (possibly) their children.
Fact is, many parents are ill equipped to do the job of parenting.
And as for cutting, it is wrong, it is unhealthy, and unless it is branding, it is not worth it. It only shows how mentally unstable you are, and being mentally unstable often has negative side effects on the people around you.
As well, many people who cut themeselves have no medical training, therefore are very likely to cut too deep, and possibly risk losing so much blood that the person will probably die.

One they should! And you should as well! The fact that you ask the question shows that you think that this a natural practice and there is nothing wrong with it.
Ask yourself to what purpose does it serve to mutilate your body?
Ask yourself why are you mutilating yourself?
Ask if it is so "okay" why do you need approval of it, or that it is seen and looked on something that is abnormal?
Ask your self it is okay to do it to someone else? What would be the result, and shouldn't it be the same when you do it to yourself?
Teens cutting themselves, is not a normal passtime, no matter what you might think. It shows more than just trying to get attention. It shows a behavioral problem that is needing professional help. Mutilation hurts, yes you may claim it is your body, and you have to live with it, but in the same time you are a child of two individuals regardless what you think of them, regardless of the time they dont spend with you, regardless of whatever your excuses are - it hurts them equally - it pains them and if that is why you are doing it - then again you need professional help

Because they don't understand why a perfectly "normal" child would do something so patently self-destructive.
On the other hand, these same teens fly into rages at the parents who suggest getting help for whatever it is that's bothering them enough to cut themselves.

Not all adults get angry... I think it is better asked why people get angry and the reason is ignorance. They don't understand the reasoning behind what we do so they get angry. If you want someone to understand then educate them.

Because one thing about growing up and being an adult is getting the job done. They are just frustrated that those teens failed at what they were trying to do.
Cuting yourself is something you do to get attention...pretty much like calling yourself a satanist. If its not for attention, then do it right. Dont cut across your veins, cut along them.

I don't think they get angry, so much as it scares them. Self-mutilation is NOT a good thing, and it's usually a sign of something much deeper. I used to be into it, I know.

They get angry for the same reasons they get angry for self mutilation.

Why is it important to mutulate yourself? I'm over 21 and really am not impressed with stupid behavior. I'd be more angry if teens cut me!
