I would like to color my hair slightly and definitely don't have the money to go to the salon to do it. Are there do-it-yourself kits that you find easier and/or get better results with? I have fairly dark brown hair and want to go just a few shades lighter maybe, or do some highlights (or combination of both). I am a teacher, and obviously don't want to show up to school on Monday with orange hair! Thanks for your help!

more than likely your hair will turn orange because you have dark brown hair and box kits most of the time dont have strong enough devolopers. try sallys beauty supply store for proffesional products and have a friend help you!!! dont rinse out till you see that is has lifted past orange!

L'oreal Excellance. I've used it for years and have had no problem with it.It has a before conditioner, the color, and an after conditioner to keep the color longer.
