i'm all for the corolla. my husband has a 94 corolla, it's at 184,000 miles, and still runs great! they are awesome cars, and the newer ones are decent looking. ford focus might look prettier, but they have more issues with stuff breaking down, from friends of mine who have them. plus, i think imports are more reliable. i would go with the corolla. if you have questions, read about real owners of those vehilces at www.carsurvey.org that website really helped me out!

Toyotas are generally more reliable and require far less mantanience (regardless of "heavy" or "light" use), where Fords, as you experienced, aren't as durable. Also, Toyotas have a higher resale value, if that's important to you. The $1000 difference is negligible compared to the hassle saved. you may also want to put gas mileage into consideration; I don't know the mpg on those models, but it's certain that the cumulative difference made by gas mileage would amount to more than $1000.

How can you compare. I have a Toyota corolla S and its awesome ..smooth ride and it'll last 10 more years. Compared to a ForD??? hmm you cant compare

i dunno why everybody has to hate on ford.. i agree toyotas last long..my previous car was a toyota camry but the focus is just as good as the corolla..its also cheaper and comes with more standard stuff..i always thought corollas were old lady cars

the corolla is better.
focus is cheap, but decent MPG.
toyota is known for their reliability and the corolla is good on gas, too.
