Bonding with your newborn gives them a start on relationships. Babies that no one to bond to a lot of time become tactile which is they don't like textures of things new experiences scare them even the different textures of food can disturb them. If you want a good example go and talk to a social worker that deals in the placement of neglected and abused children they can tell you some horror stories.

I don't know that you can research something that just happens between mother and/or father and child.

The results usually show themselves later in the child's life. A child can bond with someone that is not his biological parents as well. If the mom and dad are constantly having the infant babysat or in daycare then I think there is a danger of the child not bonding in particular with anyone and this may have psychological repurcussions in the future, but not necessarily. If the time spent with the infant is quality you know lots of cooing noise(baby talk) hugs kisses, and show the infant how much he/she was missed and so on.

In canada mothers and fathers can take up to a year off work and receive employment insurance if they wish to bond with their newborns, isn't that terrific. It is called maternal/paternal leaveI believe they can share the time.

very, where I live they will not let you out of the delivery room until you have breast Fed (if you are planning on breast feeding) I feel closer to them then my older ones which I wasn't handed the baby for long after they were cleaned.
