I took a dog in that my friend was going to put to sleep. It was her mothers dog and her mother died. The dog is a great dog as far as nature and personality. She has all her shots and is very pretty and is the sweetest dog I have ever met. I work all the time and dont have time to take care of her. I am trying to work overtime to pay some things off so she is inside all day so accidents happen. Now I have a urine smell. I cant take it but I cant just drop her off at the pound and the humane society wont take her. I dont know anyone who wants a dog and the ones that do want a puppy. she is 4 yrs old but very healthy. She needs to be free and be able to run and play, this is weighing on my heart heavily. So my question is not only about the urine but about what to do. I am not a dog person please help!!!!!

Rug doctor pet stain and odor remover. It worked for an area that was completely soaked for months. Nothing else did-the pet store stuff, enzymes, vinegar, detergent. Just the rug doctor stuff. If you have the money, you could consider doggy day care?Hope it works out for you.

For your carpet, use NATURE'S MIRACLE. You can buy it at places like PetSmart and it is worth every dime you spend on it.

Keep her in a crate while you are gone, and that will help her learn to potty outside and not inside.

You can list her in your local newspaper, on Petfinder.com, or check with PetSmart's Humane Society's. You can also post notices needing a good home at the vet offices in your area.

Until the time comes that a new owner is found, just try to take it one day at a time. You are doing a wonderful thing, giving this dog a chance at life. THANK YOU.

The only thing that really works in my experience is to scrub the whole area with vinegar---after of course soaking up as much of the urine as possible.

well with 4 dogs I've tried everything out there and to ME nothing works!
so i went out and got a carpet cleaner! it was the best thing i did.

you should get a carpet cleaner but if that's not in your budget then urine be gone is good. it has a black light so you can see where the pee is.

ut an add in your local paper.. or some other free publication that circulates regularly.. or even on Craiglists.. someone might want her.. if not.. the pound is your only option..

as for the carpet.. steam clean over and over.. but you may always smell it a little bit..
