HI Smokersma...
2Peter1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
The Bible intertrets itself. Any viewpoint must be what the Bible say's.
Here is one example:
Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
Verse 3 could be very hard to understand. Howevere verse 12 gives the answer.
Rev 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
The Bible tells us that Jesus was placed in the tomb on Wednesday just prior to sunset, and rose just prior to sunset on the following Saturday. That is three nights and three days. The Prodestants and Catholics tell us Jesus was placed in the tomb just prior to sunset on a Friday and rose just prior to sunrise Sunday. That is two nights and one day.
Jesus said:
Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
The Bible tells us that Jesus was born in the month of October. You are aware as to what the world says......
The Prodestants and Catholics tell us that the wise men ( Magi ) found Jesus in the stable ( barn ) the night of His birth, and that there were three of them. The Bible tells us that they found him in a house, and that he was no longer called a baby, rather a young child. ( Evidence points to him being 1 to 1and 1/2 yrs of age )There is no mention as to the number of Magi.
The Prodestants tells the world that it is ok to keep Sunday the first day of the week as the Sabbath. The Bible tells us to keep the Seventh day....
Believe it or not, here is what the Catholics believe.
James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore (1877-1921), in a signed letter.
"Is Saturday the seventh day according to the Bible and the Ten Commandments? I answer yes. Is Sunday the first day of the week and did the Church change the seventh day - Saturday- for Sunday, the first day? I answer yes. Did Christ change the day'? I answer no!
"Faithfully yours, J. Card. Gibbons"
How prove you that the Church hath power to command feasts and holydays?
By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of; and therefore they fondly contradict themselves, by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the same Church." Henry Tuberville, An Abridgment of the Christian Doctrine (1833 approbation), (Same statement in Manual of Christian Doctrine, ed. by Daniel Ferris [1916 ed.]
Catholic Press, Aug. 25, 1900
"Sunday is a Catholic institution, and... can be defended only on Catholic principles.... From beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first."
"It is well to remind the Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, and all other Christians, that the Bible does not support them anywhere in their observance of Sunday. Sunday is an institution of the Roman Catholic Church, and those who observe the day observe a commandment of the Catholic Church."--Priest Brady, in an address at Elizabeth, N.J. on March 17, 1903, reported in the Elizabeth, N.J. News of March 18, 1903.
Peter R. Kraemer, Catholic Church Extension Society (1975), Chicago, Illinois.
"Regarding the change from the observance of the Jewish Sabbath to the Christian Sunday, I wish to draw your attention to the facts:
"1) That Protestants, who accept the Bible as the only rule of faith and religion, should by all means go back to the observance of the Sabbath. The fact that they do not, but on the contrary observe the Sunday, stultifies them in the eyes of every thinking man.
"2) We Catholics do not accept the Bible as the only rule of faith. Besides the Bible, we have the living Church, the authority of the Church, as a rule to guide us. We say, this Church, instituted by Christ to teach and guide man through life, has the right to change the ceremonial laws of the Old Testament and hence, we accept her change of the Sabbath to Sunday. We frankly say, yes, the Church made this change, made this law, as she made many other laws, for instance, the Friday abstinence, the unmarried priesthood, the laws concerning mixed marriages, the regulation of Catholic marriages and a thousand other laws.
"It is always somewhat laughable, to see the Protestant churches, in pulpit and legislation, demand the observance of Sunday, of which there is nothing in their Bible."
Stultifies:
Prove to be of unsound mind or demonstrate someone's incompetence.
To make someone or something appear absurd, foolish, contradictory, etc.
To cause something to be useless, worthless, futile, etc.
The Prodestants and Catholic tell us that the Bible tells of an ever burnning hell where people are tormented for ever... The Bible tells us there is to be a one time punishment.
There is no ever burnning hell where people will be tormented day and night for ever. There are two Greek words translated hell in the Kings James new testament.
Hades {hah'-dace}which means grave. Geenna {gheh'-en-nah} which should have been rendered "Gehenna" or "Gehenna of fire". This was originally the valley of Hinnom, south of Jerusalem, where the filth and dead animals of the city were cast out and burned; a fit symbol of the wicked and their future destruction.
An Italian Florentine poet, Durante degli Alighieri, better known as Dante Alighieri or just Dante, June 1, 1265 – September 13/14, 132, created the idea of the hell that is taught to the world. The Catholic Church grabed it and ran with it. The protestants appear to believe all things which the Catholics speak.
God tells us there will be a one time punishment, not an eternal punishing. Yes it has to do with fire, a fire that consumes.
Malachi 4:1 For, behold, the day is coming, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day thats coming shall burn them up, say's the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Malachi 4:3 And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, say's the LORD of hosts.
Ok. I will give you this one, the others you will need to locate. Jesus was killed in the Month of April, He was 33 and one half years of age. Count until His 34th birthday... There is another way to determine the month of his birth, learn when John was born.....
There are many more wrong views that you were taught to believe. There is only one way, Gods way. The Bible does say what God means and means what God said. I must do one more, do you know that the white race in the United States is from one of the twelve tribes of Israel?????? Yep, the half tribe of Manaseh.
Ok, you talked me into it, no person that ever lived is in heaven except Jesus. The dead are just that, DEAD, awating a resurrection. I'm going to let you search for the others
I guess it is ok if I give you the answer to one more.....There were two Sabbaths the week that Jesus was killed. John 19:31...("for that sabbath day was an high day,") The high Sabbath day on Wednesday and the weekly Sabbath day on Saturday.
The fact is, it is not about all the above, even though they are fun..... It is and has alway's been about the tribes of Israel, all of them not just Juda ( the Jews ) to include the converted Israel, and the soon comming kingdom of God.
Don't believe me, not your friends, not you family, not a preacher, not the Pope. BELIEVE thd Bible.

According to conservative Christianity, yes there is only one way (theirs), and everyone else is doomed to become roasted marshmellows. When you ask if there is a way to objectively determine which interpetation of the Bible is correct, the answer is almost always "it's self evident...just read it."
If that were actually the case, then there wouldn't be so many wildly different interpetations, would there? The truth is that the Bible can be used to "prove" or excuse ANYTHING. No matter how absurd, there is a justification for nearly any kind of behavior or tradition. Take it from someone who has actually done comparitive religious studies: There is no objective way to determine what "the TRUE WAY" is.
I've often been told, "If you read the Bible while open to God, the truth will come through." So basically I have to believe first, and only then will it make sense. Reading it in search of belief evidently doesn't work. I've been told the exact same thing about other religious works, from the Q'uaran to the Book of Mormon to the writings of favorite Eastern teachers. And when I read them, guess what I find: A lot of airy-fairy talk backed up by myths and legends and souped up with the occassional threat against non-believers.

No to the first question. Yes to the second. and I believe the answer to the third question is in the Bible with all the guideline Jesus gave us to follow, the most important one are you must find the people that are united in worship, love one another and believe the Bible is the word of God. This means Globally.
And to the last Q. Sincere people will accept the word of God, on the other hand ignorance is condemned.

I think this is a wonderful question!
My feeling, based on Scripture, is that there will be some tolerance of error -- to a certain degree. For example, the argument between Catholics and many Protestants re: transubstantion vs. consubstantiation, will be corrected divinely when we reach Him.
However, religions that preach doctrines that amount to apostacy (ordaining actively gay priests; condoning or covering up child molsetation; preaching Jesus is not God; etc.) ; doctrines that hurt other Christians (those that say "we're the only ones that know The Truth!" for example) ; and doctrines that malign His chosen people (those that hold to Replacement Theology) -- these will all suffer the punishment described by Jesus in the parable of the Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant (Luke 12:35-48).
Peace.

Of course He will! Otherwise all of the various groups who believe a bit differently even though they love Yeshua would be lost, and above all God doesn't want anyone to be lost! Yeshua, (Jesus) came to earth as a man because we couldn't get to God on our own. He stands by the Father's right hand interceding for us, telling God how it is to be human, and how easy it is to make mistakes, and arguing our case for us. He also shows the Father His, (Yeshua's) blood He shed on the cross to pay for our sins, and when God sees His Son's blood, He cannot see our sin, only the sacrifice of His Son. That is why to follow Yeshua is different from every other religion. Our Lord and King Yeshua gave Himself for us, to buy our way into His Kingdom by giving His own life for us...what a wonderful King!!! What a Savior, kind, loving and true...to serve Yeshua is to know He is with us always, and to feel His love.

There is but one true view point!
You would almost for sure have to know Hebrew to even get an idea of that view!
Most do not even use a concordance, to begin to understand!

I definitely believe in one truth. I believe that in our humanity, we're so blind that we don't always see the truth as it is. But it's one view.
I don't fault ppl for finding their way to God-- as long as they're looking for God, He will honor their quest.
I firmly believe that everyone who's searching for God will find Him. He will make the answers known to those who come with a sincere, pure heart.

No one is condemned if they believe in Jesus Christ. If humans get certain aspects wrong after "faith in Jesus as their savior", they'll still all be in heaven. Everone just might not realize His full love and promises while still on earth....because their interpretation is incorrect, however, their salvation is still intact.
