It's not a "sin" for anyone to use birth control, though Catholics have that misguided belief. I'd say the greater "sin" is having unwanted children just because a man in a pointy hat says that it isn't okay for men to wear a hat.

Besides, when you get down to it, anything can be "birth control." "Not tonight, I have a headache" is birth control. Pulling out on the bedsheets is birth control. Your five-year-old daughter barging in the room in the middle of the act is birth control. Getting a really bad leg cramp during the act is birth control. I could go on all day.

That's what they are taught by their leaders, unfortunately. What sort of accountability will they have if there is a judgment day and God asks them why they didn't take better care of Africa and other poor areas of the world? Condoms and effective birth control would certainly have prevented some of the ravages of AIDS. It is high time that these ancient "sins" are examined from a practical viewpoint.

Yes, it is. Although many practicing Catholics today choose to ignore this sin and use birth control anyway. My grandparents were Catholic.

If anything really is a sin, it is a sin for all mankind, not just Catholics.

I'm not sure if birth control is a sin or not.

The Bible says taking innocent life is a sin, but it doesnt say anything about preventing it.

If preventing it were a sin, then it would be a sin to stop making babies.

So I dont think its a sin.

Yes, the Church teaches that anything that prohibits natural procreation is a sin - birth control pills, shots, condoms, etc. The only acceptable control is Natural Family Planning, or abstinence.

No it is not because first you have to believe in sin, sin is a myth believe it or not a lot of priests do not believe in sin they are now preaching choice in the church not sin, our church is changing it's philosophy towards the written word today and that is because the people are becoming more demanding and questioning the rules the church has set upon us and that is why I have started to attend church again.

I am Catholic myself. If you would ask the elders of my family they would say YES! But you ask me and I say NO! I would rather have protected sex unmarried, than to have a baby out of wed-lock!
