When your skin gets soked in water it gets wrinkly like a raisin but a raisin is a grape with out the water. How come that is?

hi there, Your skin is made up of two layers. The outer layer is called the epidermis and the lower level is the dermis. The outer layer (epidermis) produces an oily substance called sebum. You can see this substance when you touch a window or mirror and your "oily" fingerprint is left there. One job sebum does is it keeps water out of your skin—a job that it does very well. However, after long periods of time in a swimming pool, shower, or bathtub, much of the sebum is washed off and your outer layer of skin starts to absorb water. As it absorbs water it swells, but since the epidermis is "tied" down to your dermis in certain spots, it expands more where it is not "tied" down and this causes your skin to wrinkle. The difference between your skin and a raisin is that raisins wrinkle because they shrink, but your skin wrinkles because it is getting bigger.
i hope this explains

Your question threw me at first because my sink's tub never wrinkles at all.

Now that I know you are talking skin the problem is that water soaks into your skin and that some of the skin on finger tips is thicker than other parts of the skin and swells more from the extra water. The part that didn't swell as much looks sunken so the effect is hills and valleys.

It is the opposite of a raisin where the skin stays up in some places but the other parts are so dried out that they sink in.

The outer layers of skin are actually absorbing water.

The resemblence to a raisin is coincidence.

Because the heated water attracts blood to all the veins in your body and it expands them hence wrinkles.Blood likes warmth and does not like cold that is how peple get frost bitten in winter finger get cold and blood will flow to the warmer section of body so when you in hot bath blood like to flow everywhere it is warm.
