There are a thousands more academic or fun type scholarships available. Also there are essay type scholarship applications out there from private organizations and companies.

In 1997, Boston University canceled football and reinvested some of the proceeds into academic scholarships while funding may new sports in the process.
There are more students on academic scholarships than athletic.

Most likely, Academic Scholarships. I watch a lot of college football/basketball. They creat a lot of publicity for the schools. People can watch sportsmanship and all the hooplah that goes with it. Try checking the ratings for a "Academic Superbowl"compared to a "College Football Superbowl". sad but true.
