You should always work out on an empty stomach.Let at least 2.5 hours pass(I think you can hold out that long). If you're working out to lose weight or gain mass then morning before eating is best.Your body is in a fasted state at that time and you'll cause some very beneficial biochemical processes to occur at that time.If you're trying to gain muscle then have a low or no carb protein shake 1/2 hour before. One trick I used to use(it sounds nuts) is to eat a pickle or two to stave off the hunger. It's relatively low in calories and has a carbohydrate texture.Good for tricking your brain.I always have a protein drink before I work out but I lift weights. And just to let you know you certainly don't burn off what you just ate during your work out.The fuel comes from glycogen stores, lean muscle and fat.

You need to eat before you work out, for energy. If you have a major meal, have it within say, two hours of your workout. You need some time to digest. That's why you feel tired, because your body is digesting.
It depends what kind of workout. You NEED to be doing weight training, so I'll assume you're doing that.
The meal should be heavy on carbs and fat - that's for energy. If it's not a major meal, then a sandwich is good about 30 mins before working out. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your routine.
Post workout, you also need to eat, and IMMEDIATELY. Eat a meal high in carb and protein. This synthesizes protein to build muscle.
If you're doing all cardio or something, I can't help you. It's not the way to get in shape, and I don't recommend it. If you must do cardio, do it AFTER weight training. Done properly, weight training will burn fat and build muscle MUCH more effectively than cardio. Cardio can actually cause your body to use MUSCLE for energy, which is what you DON'T want, unless you want to turn into a pudgy load.
Remember, lifting first (most important), and cardio second (and go easy on it).

Everyone has a different opinion on this, because everyone's body is different. I had a difficult time with this trying to figure it out when I first started working out.
I always recommend that a little something is eaten before a workout, because your body burns it all off and more during a work out. I teach every morning at 8:00am and I have to eat some toast or a bagel before I teach or I wouldn't make it thru the workout! Some of my clients weren't eating before they came to train, and they were just exhausted before we were finished, so I had them eat, and also bring a banana or something similar for when they finished. Try eating a little something about 45 min. before you go, I think this will help.

Don't eat an entire meal before your workout, but make sure you eat SOMETHING. I like to have some fresh fruit about thirty minutes beforehand, or maybe a little oatmeal. Keep things light, and avoid heavy fats or meats. Working out on a completely empty stomach is a good way to pass out, and you will never get as much out of your workout!
Afterwords, make sure to eat something with protein so that your muscles can begin to repair themselves. Grilled chicken, fish, tofu, lean red meats. All of them are good options.

Yes you should. Protein (meat, eggs, peanuts) will help you muscles grow bigger. Also, I know to some this is a bad word, carbohydrates will give you a massive energy lift which will make you have a more intense work out. In high school our coaches used to feed us pasta, and lots of it, on game day about 2 hours before kick off. Good luck with it.

They used to feel that you should never eat before, but I advised my students that they should eat a LIGHT meal before and then if hungry after the work out eat another meal, preferably light to moderate.
