I have two dogs, one is an adult yellow lab female, and one is a young black lab male. I wouldn't call the black lab a puppy, but I wouldn't call him an adult. He is very, very active and hyper all the time. We cannot put a collar on the yellow lab, because the black lab will chew it off. I was wondering if anyone has heard of a chew-proof dog collar. If you have, could you tell me where to buy it or send me a link off the Internet for it! Thanks!

Lupine makes collars that are warrantied for life, even against chew damage. They are sold in nice pet shops and online. Type lupine dog collar into your search engine and shop around, not all places carry all styles/sizes.

I would recommend a simple metal collar. The kind that you slip the chain through the link to make a loop. I wouldn't think that the black lab could chew through that!!

Being that he is a lab he is mouthy. He will probably grow out of the chewing stage in a few months.

Try putting bitter apple, chili sauce, hot sauce on the collar., anything to deter the chewing. The black lab will learn that the collar is not a nice thing to mouth.
Other than that you may have to try stainless steel.

NEVER LEAVE A CHOKE CHAIN ON YOUR DOG UNATTENDED.
Many dogs have died being caught up by a choke chain.

a metal collar made for dogs is like chain and won't be chewed through as would a leather or cloth collar. i think it's called a choker chain as it tends to choke the animal if it strains againt its leash. it most often used on larger dogs and really does no harm if the dog is treated properly, and trained to act like a nice dog and not an attck animal, though some training is specific for protection abusive treatment in the training process is not used. they are also trained for attack, but are trained to voice commands on how forceful the animal is to be. an example- police dogs are attacked trained, but respond to voice commands from the handler to not kill, but control the person being attacked. itis highly specialized and many breeds are never given that type training, and those that are must meet many requirements to be given it,.

the best thing to do is train your dog....the more you train your dog the better it will be...it wont he as hyper....only allow it to be playful....also....get a metal collar and a leather leash....those will help you greatly....if you decide to train your dog you are not allowed the dog to bite the leash or collar...if you have any questions feel free to email me..
