You know love is an action word, I would have to say dogs show all the signs! They hate to be away from you for one moment, they act like its christmas whenever you come in the door, they are sad when you are sad, they are happy when you are happy and they are with out a doubt very loyal!
I think dogs can love better than most people!

yes and no. dogs will become attached to other dogs, cats etc. and will mourn the loss of another animal it is used to having around. but if you mean with another animal like a human falls in love, they act on instinct when sex is involved and not for love. at other times it's as if they did love another animal and wants to feel affection as do people.

I don't know that you could call it love, but dogs do form attachments to other dogs and people. It is called bonding.
Dogs - unlike people - can be separated from their "loved ones" and be perfectly happy, as long as they are in a loving, caring environment.

Yes, my dogs are in love with me!! Just kidding but they do follow me around.
People can't tell me that they don't understand English either because when I say the word "walk" their eyes light up and they can't wait to go!!

When my 10 year old Rotti mix had to be euthanized because of cancer, my other dog didn't eat for a week. She was very depressed. I think that she loved him.
