... Tower of Babel.

Why did God scatter his flock of Christians into Lutherians, Pentecostals, Mormons, Baptists, Catholics, Unitarians, Methodists, Greek Orthodox, and Amish and what not?

According to Christians, nothing happens except by God's will.

The question is simple. If you don't understand it, maybe you should ask your pastor for clarification. Here is a hint, the initial statement does not imply a causal relationship to the question.

Because Christianity is like that shell game called "hide the pea" where the con man hides a pea under a shell and bets the sucker he can't find it.

In the Bible version of the shell game, if you don't choose the right shell, you go to hell.

The Biblical God has an odd sense of humor, it seems.

Okay, now I understand u. You must remember that there are different personality types of people in the world. Some people may be a quiet type & prefer 2 worship God in a solemn sort of way like the Anglicans & the Methodists & the Catholics.Others may want 2 jump & dance like the Pentecosts. For whatever type of person there is on this earth there is a denomination of christianity 2 fit that person & therefore a church. God even gave people the option of worshipping at home if they prefer. It makes no sense going 2 a church & feeling uncomfortable & cant wait until the service is over. Just going there because u feel it is the right thing 2 do. And that is why some people go from church 2 church searching for that church that would make them feel comfortable. Can u imagine a Pentecost going 2 an Amish church or vice versa. The funny thing however is that each denomination believe that their way of worship is the one true one, which I do not believe. I believe that all God want is for everyone 2 believe in him & serve him in whatever accepted method they choose according 2 their personality. .
But I dont believe however that it is a sin to want 2 curry God's favor & 2 seek out 2 be in the best church for him. Because that is really what all of the christians are doing. They just want 2 be in the best church for God & do what he want. It is just that they interpret what he wants differently. Nothing wrong with that. It is all for God once its good.
But having said all that, I believe also that there are some denominations out there that appear 2 be of God but were created by individuals who have been influenced by satan & have over the years attracted large followings who believe that they are serving God but are in fact not. Lots of these churches create their own bibles & change up the existing one 2 suit their beliefs.

Everyone has his own interpretation of what to believe, and the differences in doctrine are what spawned the various churches. Man made the decision to argue about beliefs, not God.

In the case of the Tower of Babel, pride was the reason that God scattered the tribes because they wanted to build a structure that would reach up to Heaven (i.e., be like God.)

I'll let you decide whether the two things are connected.

First -- most Christians don't take the Tower of Babel story as literal.

Second -- of the churches that you mention -- only three (Catholic, Orthodox and Mormon) claim to be founded by God. All of the others are founded by men.

Catholics and the Orthodox both make claims on the church founded by Jesus where Peter was made the Earthly leader of the Church. Mormons claim that an angel of God gave them the book of Mormon.

But Protestant religions are all founded by men who disagreed with other men.

The 12 tribes of Israel were through Jacob.

Traditional division:

Reuben
Simeon
Levi
Judah
Issachar
Zebulun
Dan
Naphtali
Gad
Asher
Joseph
Benjamin

Division according to apportionment of land in Israel:

Reuben
Simeon
Judah
Issachar
Zebulun
Dan
Naphtali
Gad
Asher
Benjamin
Ephraim (son of Joseph)
Manasseh (son of Joseph)

Read the Old Testament and follow the tribes through the New Testament.
Through the wisdom of knowledge, you may be able to ask a better question.

What are you smoking! God changed man In genesis for building the tower of Babel trying to reach heaven. This was done by nimrod in the area of Iraq. All men on earth spoke one language. God said anything man can conceive he can do, let us go down and confound them.

This has nothing to do with denominations, caused by people following man and not reading Gods word for them selves.

Any Gospel or doctrine should be able to stand up against the Bible.

God scattered the tribes and gave them different languages so they would be unable to unite again on such a large project. God seems to dislike large projects, especially when they seem blasphemous.

The division of Christians into various sects was probably a human-initiated undertaking and had more to do with money, real estate and politics than religion.

God didn't scatter his flock of Christians. They scattered themselves by simply not being able to all sit down and read a book and come to the same conclusions about the words contained therein. I'd suggest that all of these different offshoots "evolved" from the original sect, but using the word "evolution" to describe Christians would reach a level of irony and incorrectness that just should never be broached.

The Tower of Babel story is interesting. Why interfere? I mean, eventually the tower would have toppled over anyway. Trying to make sense out of nonsense is a waste of time, but I appreciate the question.

God didn't scatter them to different religions. He scattered them because they thought they could build a tower to reach God in Heaven. He knew that if they all got together they would do more evil together, and not worship Him as He should be. It was also a tower to make them look great, and say see what I did.

God did not do that. Apostasy by reason of Satanic influence did that.
Jesus prophesied that the night was coming and that no work would be done during the night. He was right of course, as the Church apostatized, the Church adopted pagan practices and doctrines such as the trinity, eternal hellfire, and immortal souls.
As the day of Jesus presence drew closer, faithful ones began to take a stand against the non-scriptural traditions that all of the sects of Christendom made themselves contaminated with.
