Sometimes I will get carried away listening to a cd or get caught up in the adrenaline and push myself a little too hard ( this afternoon for example I looked at a clock and realized i'd been at it for over two and a half hours)(cardio/weights) and I find that I experience nausea, lightheadedness, and a little disorientation. What are some possible explanations for this? I'm in pretty good shape. Thx guys.

Drink more water and eat a little more before you go (but make it something light, like fresh fruit). If your body doesn't have enough fuel then you are never going to make it through your routine. For every thirty minutes or so of a workout, you should be drinking about 8 oz of water. And make sure to hydrate before and after, as well!

A 2.5 hour workout is what things like Gatorade are actually made for-- you have lost a lot of electrolytes through sweat, and need to replenish them. You could even have a small energy bar in the middle of your workout if it is going to be that long-- if your gym has a store, talk to them about what might be appropriate for fueling you through a long workout.

Are you eating before you go? Do you work this long daily? I would say that if you are working this much often, unless you're getting ready to compete for body building I'd say you're over doing it.
Have you been drinking water during your workout? Gatorade is necessary when you've worked out for 2 hrs. or more to replace electrolytes. Try to limit your workouts to less time, and focus!

It's because of working out. Mentally and physically you are getting worn out, no matter how athletic a person may be they get this if they work out excessively without any breaks between the excercises. You need to eat properly before and after giving time between when you eat and exercise.

Those are all common signs of dehydration. Get more fluids into ya. Gator or something similar should make up about 1/3 of your fluid intake and make sure that you hydrate before you start working out also.

Yes. Latic acid builds up in your body and will cause you to be sick.
