Put the probe in the thickest part of the breast, without touching the bone. You will know that the chicken is done when the temperature reads between 170ºF and 180ºF

In the thickest part of the meat where the breast meats the thigh. Don't push the thermometer all the way to the bone or you won't get an acurate reading. If you want to be really cautious take the temperature in 2 different areas just make sure the meat is the thickest area.
