Lets just say someone has an arrest warrant for stealing. They were supposed to spend 6 days in jail, but never did. That was almost 2 years ago. What is going to happen if they turn themselves in or the police find them? Are they going to jail for even longer?

Additional contempt of court charges for failure to appear will be added (misd.). If the person is stopped by law enforcement for a legitimate reason, and a warrant check is made, both the original warrant, and the subsequent contempt warrant will 'HIT'. I've personally ROW'ed (returnd on warrant) individuals with active warrants that were four years past. A good attorney, a kind judge, and some help from above may have an influence on the cases disposition.

It depends on the crime. Yes, they will be arrested if found.
The ones that got the warrant can dismiss it though.
I think the limitations is 7 yrs instead of 2. You may have to look it up.
Anyway, 6 days in jail , that isnt much, at least u get free meals that long.
Its best to have the warrant dropped by the ones the person stoled from or make ammends by workin for that person.

I would leave that state and just never go back...they won't extradite you for something so pety but if they do catch you...you will have to serve time in jail, possibly and probably more than the six days you were supposed to...you will be in jail from the time they arrest you till your trial as you will be a flight risk so I would just either face the fire and take what they give you...or run!

They probably won't tack on more days. If they catch up with you - you will do the six days. Besides that, six days is NOTHING, get it over with and stop looking over your shoulder. Another thing, some small towns will just give up and write it off after a number of years. The operative word there is SOME.

Oh no Skinny? I have been extradited for TRAFFIC tickets! From Ohio to Florida.

If you knowlingly avoided an arrest warrant, that makes you a fugitive from the law. Generally, if u turn yourself in, you will just be given the same punishment. However, if police or authorities in your state caught you, they might file extra charges and u might get a longer stint in jail. It would be good to consult with a lawyer.

They will have a failure to appear also, so most likley they will have to pay a larger fine and may have to spend alittle longer in jail.

The warrant will stay active forever so if they are ever stoped for any reason the police will arrest them for the warrant.

It would appear this is bothering you so if you want peace of mind you should turn yourself in. More than likely some small thing will get their attention or someone that wants to get even will rat you out and it will go harder on you. Good luck to you.

Ever heard of statue of limitations? Read about it. The most they can prosecute is up to 7 years unless it is homocide warrant.

It is likely that additional time would be added for new charges. The arrest warrent should state the new charges but there my be other depending on the circumstances.
