I would choose a box of matches as it will signal me some help. Now if there was a way I could get off the desert island even though stranded then I would choose a companion, cause I would think about all the fun we could have together.

A companion everytime. Because not only as many people have pointed out a box of matches would run out in the end, but they could not help you build a shelter, catch fish or other pry, or keep you sane.
A person can do this.
So yes a companion for me.

companion... box of matches will end soon ... so you will be facing the same problem some day with or without the companion. So its better to be with someone then alone and no matches...

i would choose a companion because a box of matches will eventually run out and then i will be cold and lonely , the companion (if he is not like the box of matches) lol will keep me company and keep me warm all the time

A companion because bordom is one of the worst feelings ever. you can light a fire without matches , and soon enough the matches would run out but a companion will not

A box of matches can work wonders with the wild man you may meet in one of those clearlings in the forest. But, definately matches, covers all angles. Or, can the companion, cook, initiate a flare, light a fire for a signal, etc. Do not think of canabalism. Matches......deffo.
