If using this argument is silly (which it is) why do so many people base their views of Muslims off of what they see on TV?
Muslim extremists are not true Muslims any more than Fred Phelps is a true Christian. Both are twisting their faith to evil ends.
Before you judge, try talking to an actual Muslim. The vast majority of Muslims hate what the extremists are doing to their religion, and yes, they do speak out about it. There was a Muslim march for peace in Washington DC a few weeks ago, but no one covered it on the news, therefore we never heard about it. Right now, it’s much more profitable for the American public to stay afraid of the foreign threat than to understand and accept it.
It is illogical, unfair, and downright stupid to base your assumptions about an entire race or religion based on the views given to you by a biased media. Make up your own minds, people.
Your thoughts?

I see Fred Phelps on TV claiming to be a "true" Christian, because it's on TV, it must be true, right?
Yes, Reverend Phelps appears to be the truest of Christians. He is following the dictates of the Bible God almost to the letter. His behavior is not correct according to humanity, and is repulsive though. Reverend Phelps is not lukewarm in his religious convictions, the others are. They claim fealty while ignoring and reasoning away the dictates of their God.
Be we of whatever religion or none, we just must judge each other individually.

you bet!!! especially if it was on FOX news!!!
look the majority of Americans are too lazy to read a book or do a simple research on any subject if it wasn't an obligation.
do you really expect them to find out the truth about Islam?!! why would they want to? they are more interested in making silly remarks and insults, it's a lot easier for them. they couldn't care less how we feel. hell, they dont even consider the Muslim Americans Americans at all.
I've seen people suggesting that Muslim Americans should carry a different ID cards!!!!!
and others want us out of the US period.
i honestly started to get sick of living here. i cant practice my own religion in peace any more, because people are too judgmental. it's getting really really ridiculous i must say.

maximum folk of them do no longer communicate up for the comparable reason that your do no longer see an remarkable many Muslims denouncing terrorism vocally. a number of them might secretly believe area of the extremists message, a number of them do exactly no longer care what "the international" thinks of them. it rather is plenty too straight forward to declare "nicely those are not real Christians" and disassociate themselves from the entire concern. however the ironic concern is, Fred Phelps and his prolonged relatives are "real Christians", they stick to the old testomony greater to the letter than maximum American Christians do.

Yeah but for people like Fred Phelps to exist, and to have such a wildly different interpretation of their holy book than everyone else, surely the potential for that evil and confusion lies in the book, even if most of us don't see it that way?

Girl Wonder, normally you and I are in complete agreement.
In this case, I have to disagree with you. I agree that the media is playing up the hype something fierce, and I agree that most of the muslims I know are halfway decent folk.
However, read the Koran if you haven't, and you'll find out that the halfway decent muslim folk are bad muslims, according to the Koran. Even the Bible isn't quite so violent.
Islam is Evil, even if some of the bad followers of it aren't.

Right on, Girl Wonder. Great analogy. I know several Muslim people and they are all peace-loving people who are embarrassed by the extremists.
As for nutbar Fred, he speaks for himself. What a sad, deluded twit.

I agree.
I am in Iraq right now, and we have been working a lot with the Iraqi army. Even though I don't speak arabic and they don't speak english, they seem like decent enough guys.
Except this one time I gave one guy a plate of food with bacon in it. He ripped off his shirt, revealing the suicide vest underneath, yelled "Allah akbar!", and blew himself up. Plus he got gore all over the perfectly good breakfast.

Some of my ideas are based on email. Muslims have emailed me telling me I am wrong about the Lord and I should embrace their conception of God not visible. A monotheism true - but an invisible God that has been separated from Jesus Christ's perfect life example of peace and healing.
The problem is Christians don't have to listen to them when they proselytize Muhammed and their God without a body.
Trying to unconvert a Christian I consider evil, but that is a Christian belief I know.
