He should not apologise but not for the reasons you give. He should not have to apologise for speaking the truth. Can YOU name one good thing that has come out of Islam?

The Pope will have to apologize to GOD for not being strict enough with the Catholics all over the world and giving them the right to speech and freedom of thought. Your name sounds christian. If you were a Muslim and would have criticized a Muslim head clergy .......... perhaps you would have been in the company of God by now for having written what you have chosen to written here as a question.

Priests are accountable for their actions just like everyone else, but that doesn't mean he should apologize. A lot of Muslims are extremists, so for him to make a comment about them, is totally fine. All radical groups look for things to outcry about. We need to just ignore them and not give so much attention to the matter.

Well first of all I think he was forced to apologize I think it is religious politics that is going on here, history has shown us that both sides are as bad as the other, they drop their little bombs on each other, so one tries to out do the other, it is so pathetic to see these religious leaders try to justify their speeches against one another and then apologize for what they have said, and then they expect us to look up to them as our religious mentors they do not deserve any respect.

Not good practice to apologize for being a Christian and for pointing out that Christians believe the Koran is a bogus scripture like the Book of Mormon is a bogus scripture.
