if it was three years ago all you can do is help him let it go and assure him you're there anytime he needs to talk. but if anything else happens, or if anything has happened recently... then yeah get him some help.

Did he tell his mother? Has he told the school counselor? Was this a one time thing or has other abuse been going on? Talk to him and ask him if he has ever told anyone else about this. Tell him that his dad had no right to violate his personal space like that...by punching him in the stomach. That is wrong and it is against the law to hit your child like that. Punching is not a spanking...it is a brutal use of force against a minor.

Please get him to get some professional help with this. Start at the school level.

OMG, TELL SOMEBODY! my friend is going through that currently, and nobody deserves to go through that. Even though it's been 3 years since the punch, you should call Child Protection Services to make sure that doesn't happen again.

sence this happened 3 years ago, I'd first go to my school counciler or preacher, and get their advice. Maybe, what happened 3 years ago, made the father come to his senses.

Chances are, he may still be getting abused. Tell a guidance counselor, a teacher, or someone on the faculty what's going on, so he can be removed from his father.

Report his father to the police and get you friend to check himself at the doctor because he could have internal bleeding and get even worse. It could lead to death.

You should tell someone, if that was three years ago, think of what his dad MIGHT be doing to him now.
