Anything you can see on your screen, you can save as a file. Your course of action should be aimed towards making files as useless as possible for a thief.
For example, you can make a file just 600 by 400 pixels big. That's large enough to view an image on screen, but too small to make a decent sized print.
You can then superimpose your name plus the copyright symbol in a corner, or write it in raised ´transparant´ letters acros the whole image.
Those are fairly easy in Photoshop and other image editors.

there are ways to set a file to read only. it should be in the 'properties' of any file. some photo programs also have ways of setting a virtual watermark or trademark. basically, when you save the photo it will have your trademark info embedded into the file so whenever someone checks the file info your trademark will appear. it doesn't stop copying but it does give you trademark protection if you find someone using it without your permission.
there's a program for mac called 'aperture' that can imprint a trademark for you. try pro level photo software. in photoshop you set in in the 'file info' window. just go FILE>FILE INFO and you'll see the part where you can fill in copyright info.
hope this helps and good luck.

One effective way of preventing the photo from being used anywhere other than being viewed on the computer is to lower the resolution to about 70 dpi. This allows the image to look great via email but if the recipient tried to print it or use it anywhere else, the print quality is horrible. Try downloading picasa (free photo program). You can export batch files and lower the resolution on all of them in a quick step. The watermark idea works really well too.

Windows has a built in function where you hold the alt button, then hit the print screen button, open the paint program under accesseries, and hit the paste function under edit. Save the page as a jpeg, attach to your email and anyone will be able to view it. You can edit the page you saved and just cut out the picture and paste it to a new page if you want the text out.

the sole thank you to get photos out of your pc on your cellular telephone (that i'm attentive to) is to have a USB Cable. i could propose getting one. If that would not artwork, then what in case you deliver the photograph to your self, examine our digital mail on your telephone, and notice if there is a thank you to save the image???
