Probably because we're not fascists or ruthless war mongers, altho that's how the Soviets dealt with the Chechs, Hungarian revolts, Saddam against the Kurds, Nazis against all partisans & occupied countries, on and on....

The government would CLAIM that the only way to influence the terrorist nations, short of annihilation, is to be able to have diplomatic communication. Which can not be achieved when you call one party a terrorist nation.

However, I agree with the question and believe that the end of diplomacy is long overdue.

One word answer: Reporters. As soon as TV reporters pointed their cameras at an American soldier hurting an innocent civilian, the soldier would be branded a criminal and would be forced to face prosecution. The enemy knows this and often hides behind women and children.

That's okay... our guys know this is the way the war is fought and have techniques and tools to deal with it.

Because there are too many anti-american news media around and the only way for us to unrestrain ourselves is to shoot the news media first and then kill the terrorists and their supporters!!!!!!!
