It came from another universe attached to this one. Keep in mind that the human concept of time is not applicable to the existence of the universe or other universes. In other words, thinking that there must have been something "before" the big bang happened for the big bang to have happened at all is not going to get you anywhere. Time and space are really one and there cannot be one without the other. Time really only exists to us because we are mortal. Time never began nor will it ever end. We can't really put that in perspective.

OK ... A little light on the light spin. Follow me here ... After the Big Bang everything is thrown outward, in all directions. Gravity kicks in, masses form swirling material that become galaxies. Within the center of each galaxy there is a core formed, what scientists call a Black Hole. All of this continues and we refer to it as the expanding universe. But while all of this is going on those black holes at the center of each galaxy are pulling said galaxy back in upon itself. The galaxies slowly collapse in upon themselves. Then the gravitational pull of whats left, and whats left are the black holes, begin to act one upon another. They all collapse into whats termed a singularity. Just one tiny mass containing all the matter in existence. Nothing, and I mean nothing, escapes this singularity. And then ... BANG! It all explodes, exploding due to your guess is as good as mine (hey, I don't know everything) and the cycle starts again. And that's what the expanding and contracting universe is, and where the big bang comes from ... Its just one big never ending cycle of creation. Or ... We can always go back to the "theory" of your guess is as good as mine. I figure I wasn't there when the thing exploded so they can't blame me for that. I won't be around for the collapse so they can't blame me for THAT. So I'll just work on whats going on now. ;-) ~ Peace & Blessings ~

Working backward, the universe was created by the Big Bang, the Bang was spoken by God, God always existed. The more scientists study the universe, the more they accept God being the ultimate force behind it all. Study enough science reports and see for yourself. Total evolution theory is loosing ground, more and more.

another theory talks about a collision between higher dimensional planes known as branes. In addition, an article in New Scientist the other day talked about how it was possible to create a universe with a space time of its own in a particle accelerator. Maybe we were created in the same way in another universe?

Scientists don't know. They're cool with that, there's lots of things we don't know yet. We know, for example, that Relativity is flawed, but it's the best model we've got (it fails to incorporate quantum gravity, so we know it's flawed).

Fundamentalist Christians claim to know, but all they can do is thump a book which claims to be the truth and says God created it though it has never been proven.

Many other faiths believe their myth to be true, or, have accepted the scientific origins. Too many to list really. And each religion has different sects and groups

The Bing Bang has pretty much been disproved my friend, many in the scientific community now believe in the 'Big Crump' idea..basically, the Universe is constantly expanding and contracting, which takes countless billions of years
