Well, the good thing is that it is new and you have not filled the hard drive much. The first thing I would do is re-install the operating system with the CD(s) that dell provided. This will rule out the possibilities of the error being generated as software or hardware. But for the time being, just go ahead and report the error and if it never pops up again then there is nothing to do...but if it keeps happening, then do a re-installation of the operating system..

There is benefit to sending error reports to Microsoft especially if it's a known issue. I've had them come back and tell me I needed a driver update. If the machine crashed while you were dealing with sensitive or personal info, I would suggest otherwise.

I would also call Dell if you have a new machine. There could be something that is wrong and under warranty. They know your configuration based on the serial number and should be able to assist.

The send report will not help you.

If you ask me, I'll istal some program like tune up utilities to check for system errors.

If this does not help, try reinstalling your windows.

PS> It is possible that one or more of your hardware parts are not compatible between each other.

try scan disk then defrag see if that removes it. if it doesn't correct the problem try to restore your operating system through system restore to a date prior to this problem.
