yes it is bad - when you're older you can get periodontal disease. I know it's something you usually forget to do but try getting into the habit of it now when you're young. and you have to floss all the way up under the gumline in up and down motions.

all the plaque turns into tartar. the tartar is the really hard stuff that they have to scrape out.

once you start flossing you may bleed but that's okay (for now) but if they start to get sore and swollen you should see the dentist because that's the first sign of gum disease.

that tartar buildup starts to wear down the bone and the gums shift away from the tooth and bone and then more plaque gets in there. so floss atleast twice a day and rinse with listerine.

use a powered toothbrush, too.

believe me - I have periodontal disease and it sucks! I've had to have my gum scraped - not fun!! and I have to take medicine to heal the gums. I've already lost some bone, too.
but I still have all my teeth!!

Do you like going to the dentist and having them scrape your teeth and go deep into your gums when they do it? (It's not fun)
If the answer is no...then, flossing is a much easier alternative. Keep floss on the counter in the bathroom so you will remember to do it. You should floss every day. Your teeth will thank you later for it. Your breath will be much better, too. Your toothbrush can't always get out what's stuck between your teeth and up into your gums. Flossing will get all that junk out.

You are normal. Most teenagers (and most adults) do not floss regularly. That is why you hear so much about gingivitis. People who do not floss daily are at seriously increased risk of losing their teeth at an early age. If you, like, forget a lot, then you should do something that, like, helps you remember, like, sorta keeping your floss right next to your toothbrush or something.

Yah, you really need to start. I know its such a hassle but it is totally worth it. Plus it gives you a prettier smile and your mouth looks healthy. Its not just to get food out but to strength your gums. Otherwise when you get older they will be more likely to rot. Try putting it somewhere obvious. Then once you get in the habit you wont forget. I got braces and it takes me forever to floss through them but I still do it faithfully every night. When I first started doing it, I kept it by my bed by my tv remote and alarm clock. Every night I saw it and so did it. Now im in such a good habit. I hope it works out.

You should floss every day to prevent gum disease. Try putting up a reminder in your bathroom where you'll be sure to see it.

If you find it hard to do or time consuming try Dentek flossers they are C shaped flossers with a handle, and you just run that up and down each tooth. My daughter loves them because she doesn't have to stick her fingers down her throat to floss.
