Do you LOVE cooking and LOVE watching cooking shows but wonder about some of the chefs that are on the Food Network? If so, what do you think of Sandra Lee's Semi HomeMade cooking? What do you think of Rachael Ray's 30 Minute Meals show? And what about The Barefoot Contessa? Just wondering...

I am like you guys. I have tried a few recipes...I like RR...Can't afford Contessa and I like Emeril too. Can't figure out Sandra though (yet?)

I like Alton Brown too! He has a lot of info and almost reminds me of David Rosengarten from a few years ago. (remember him?). I bought one of Emeril's books and really like it. I can duplicate RR's stuff at home in less than 45 mins. Anybody else have good luck with her recipes?

I LOVE Food Network. Rachael is good. I really like Alton Brown on "Good Eats". He is fun to watch and informative. It is much nicer than just watching someone cook, like most shows. His "Feasting on Asphalt" show was only okay. Emeril is good. I hate Bobby Flay. He seems really arrogant. I saw a commercial that Nigella Lawson is going to have a new show. I really liked her old show called Nigella Bites.

I do love to watch them. Out of the 3 you mentioned I like the Barefoot Contessa. I also like the guy (and I don't remember his name....but he tells the History of a certain food). I also like Paula Dean and the Essence of Emeril when he is just cooking by himself and not hamming it up with the live audience.

I only question the chefs on the Food Network that dont taste their dishes after they prepare them. I love Rachel Ray because her recipes are more easy to do because face it who has caviar just lying around like Emeril does. Alton Brown taught me how to make my first lobster. My all time favorites are Bobby Flay and Paula because she uses butter on everything.

Vinnie and I love the Food Network - it was one of the reasons we got satellite in our area.
The one chef I cannot stand to watch is Paula Dean, because she puts her finger in her mouth - and nothing on camera shows her washing her hands right away. That's just not a good thing to learn from a "professional" on camera.

Sandra Lee has very creative and beautiful decorations.
Rachael Ray has got so much on her plate right now (a newlywed to boot) - I don't know how she does it.
Barefoot Contessa is a people-person, and Ina does a good job of explaining her steps.
Mario Batalli is entertaining.
Bobby Flay needs plenty of band-aids around (maybe wife Stephanie March - "Law and Order" keeps him supplied?!)

I guess we enjoy most of them for what they each offer.

Those three I actually like. I have made several of Rachel Ray's recipes and they turn out really good. Sandra Lee's recipes I have tried and like her shortcuts but I dont' stock a pantry like she does so it basically useless info for me. Barefoot Contessa has good recipes but unless you are a millonaire like her I just dont' see how you would have a pantry or the ingredients she has on some of her shows available. The one I love to hate is Giada... I love some of her recipes but it is hard for me to believe that she really eats any of the food she prepares. She looks like she eats nothing but lettuce and water.

i watch it regularly ...i don't question the chefs but some of there dishes are questionable to me but that is only my personal opinion but in cooking you need not follow recipes to the letter you can add your own little touch that is why cooking is so interesting and as well as challenging........

I don't usually have all those fresh herbs just lying around in my fridge. Do you think they always do?
