Microsoft might have a demo you can download, but the full versions are not free - legally. You might try OpenOffice for a full office package - including a presentation prog. Also, an open source (free) publisher package, Scribus, is available.

You cam download the PowerPoint viewer for free, Microsoft.com, you can download Office Beta 2 for free and use it for a while, or you will have to downloads Open Office that is free from Sun.com

You can't get it for free. You can only update it online for free once you have it. Each copy is licensed and has to be registered.
