pierecing your ear is not a sin, as long as it is done with dignity and holiness. Some churches however through ignorance will look down on you because of what their tradation teaches. In I Sam 16:7 it says, " Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart". I will say this, if God says that your earring is okay with Him, then nobody else can say anything else about it, even the pastor. But just make sure it is God giving you the okay.

In Hinduism ear piercing (Karna vedhanam) on the day when a child complets one year (according to Hindu calender-not Gregorian calender)is a must and it is one of 16 "Sanskaaram" (upward trajectory to reach the lotus feet of God at a ripe old age) and it is celeberated with a lot of fanfare,new clothes to the child -parents, heavy-feast to all relatives etc -somayaji

Nope, not a sin. Pierced ears existed as a decoration back then, same as they do today.
Jews were, however, forbidden to have tatoos.
Don't ask me why. I don't know.
