Go to your local VFW they are VERY GOOD with helping families of soldiers, also check out militarylocator.com. Enter your dad's info and it should provide you with a record of his service.
Good luck!

My grandfather was in the Army and I did my College History aper on his Unit in the Army. I have their whole travels as a Unit from the time they touched down in Africa to the time they invaded Italy and liberated Rome and into France....I hope to one day walk it like he did...all the way to paris. go to the places he wrote down in his story he wrote....find the barn where he hid as german tanks passed...

The 35th Infantry Division from Texas....

Ring any bells! Contcat me thru my yahoo...I might be able to help. If they weren't in the same division I have some resourses I don not have on me at the moment...I am at work.

Contact the V.A.-vetrans administration. They can give you info on how to get his complete service records, including awards and citations. It's public record.

If you have information on what brigade, company, and platoon he was in, you could find a lot of info on the net and at a library.
