I am interested in knowing what people understand the "Gospel Message" to be.

Many religions have moral and ethical teachings. But Jesus taught that through Him people can break with the old life ruled with self interest and receive a new God-centred life. Jesus said, "The Kingdom of God is near. REPENT and BELEIVE the Good News."

REPENT means a change of mind about the way you have been living. It means a change of mind about the way you have been living and a turning from self and sin to God.

BELIEVE is to accept the truth about Jesus Christ. It means personally accepting that He came to save you and that He died because of your sin. Forgiveness is yours through believing.

The gospel message is that God in the person of Jesus died to save you from your sins. Theologians think it's a sophisticated notion, but lots of people think it's just as incredible as the oracle at Delphi.

Grace of God.

Eternal life is the gift of God, and not by works.

Jesus shed His own blood for the remission of our sins.

Even one sin will keep us out of heaven. So there needs to be an atonement for one or many sins.

Jesus washes away our sins so we can be reconciled to God. When we confess Jesus Christ Lord & believe in our heart in the resurrection, we are born again. God's writes His love & law in our new fleshy hearts (old hard heart is gone). We can pray to God 24/7 because our relationship to God has been restored.

Here it is in a nutshell:

While we were yet sinners Christ died for us that we might be saved. Even though we didn't deserve it based on God's standards of goodness or rigteousness, Jesus gave up His life and died on a cross for you, for me, for all, they just have to believe that He was the perfect, sinless Son of God, that He died and was resurrected and He did it for you, in spite of all you have done and will do wrong in your life. Jesus died for us willingly, He could have called 10,000 angels to bring Him down off that cross and destroy those who were killing Him, but He said nothing in order that we might believe and receive Him and live in eternity with Him. What did He do? Nothing to stop it and He prayed for the people there, that God would forgive them. Jesus is the exact representation of God, so how He is, is how God is. Jesus is Lord. That is who God is, what He's like, is JESUS! In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God! This is God. The Bible and The Gospel shows us who and how God is. HE is LOVE!

Gospel means Good News, and that refers to following the teachings of Jesus Christ, believing that he is the son of God, that he gave his life to cleanse you of your sins and to become the mediator between you and God, that you may believe in him and gain everlasting life.

That's my take on it.

The understanding of the good news to me would be that Jesus came and paid the price of sin for us, we just must believe in and obey him.

I would imagine it to be trying to tell us that the body may die but the spirit never does; that we are spiritual beings who never die.
While here on earth we should treat others as we would want to be treated because we are all ONE great spirit.
The kingdom of heaven is WITHIN, ALL is within.

The bible message as a whole is ..... be like us or spend eternity in hell....be like us or we'll convert you....be like us or we'll destroy you.....not really much love there. Don't feel bad though, pick any other religious doctrine and it is pretty much the same
