First of all, the wisdom in the Bible is unmatched by any other "holy" text. I have mentioned Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job alot in this forum but they are three of the most relavent books on the problems of human life. The Bibles words touch the heart first then the mind. This is truth.
The Bible is the human history book of God's plan through out history. It is based on 1000's of historical facts and eyewitness testimony thoughout the last 5000 years. "Nelson Glueck (a Jewish Reformed scholar and archaeologist) probably gives us the greatest support for the historicity of the Bible when he states, "To date no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a single, properly understood biblical statement.""(1)

P.S.
I want to comment on Bula'ia Aratyme's answer when they quote
Isaiah 45:7 7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
The evil talked about in this verse is natual evil meaning a volcano or earthquake and not moral evil. God is not the author of evil
Psalm 5:4 4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
Deuteronomy 32:4 4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

First of all, not everything in the bible is accurate. However, this does not mean that it cannot be inspirational, or speak to you in some way. I would suggest approaching the text with an open mind, and try to understand what the author was trying to convey when writing each book. What we might often see as contradictions to known science, are probably just that, contradictions. However, that does not mean that something meaningful cannot be understood from what the Bible is conveying in its ultimate message of love. Don't dwell on the little things, don't disregard your own reason, and read the Bible as a history of people's relationship and understanding of God, instead of an inerrant text.

I know the Bible is true, because I have put faith in its claims, and found it to be true.
When a person becomes a Christian, the Holy Spirit indwells that person, and the Word of God becomes alive to them, because they are able to discern in their spirit, what the passages are meaning for them personally.

Your distinction between fact and truth is an interesting point. May I share with you the Thomist notion that veritas est adaequatio rei et intellectus (commuted by Mary Carruthers to veritas est adaequatio verbi et rei)?

How do you know that what non-believers say is true?????......it has to do with your "faith" in GOD!......solution: seek a GOD Anointed & Appointed Pastor/Minister to help you understand the things of GOD!.....After all, that's why GOD put them into His Ministry!.... (Eph. 4: 11-15)....

You don't know that it is true. If you believe it is true, it is true.
A little like Bush's policies toward Iraq.
